Myofascial Release?
I specialize in myofascial release therapy. Myofascial release is a highly effective manual therapy technique that focuses on the release of tension and tightness in the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs throughout the body.
What is fascia? Fascia is a continuous web-like structure that provides structural integrity and plays a role in transmitting forces and movement between different parts of your body.
During our myofascial release session, I will be applying gentle and sustained pressure while also creating a small stretch to the area of hurt, tightness or pain. Over the course of the work you will be able to feel changes in your body. The goal is to release scar tissues, tightness, and trigger points within the fascia, which can develop due to various factors such as trauma, poor posture, repetitive movements, or inflammation. Or in other words, just having a human experience of being alive!
The pressure applied is sustained for a period of time about 5 to 10 minutes, allowing your fascia to gradually release and return to its normal state. During the session I do not use any oils or creams. This enables me to accurately sense through touch fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia. Myofascial release sessions can help improve blood flow, relieve pain, increase flexibility, and restore proper movement patterns.
